I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t work. Why would this be different?

It’s not uncommon for folks who have sought help for their OCD/Anxiety in the past, to feel unsuccessful. Unfortunately, what happens is a lack of comprehensive understanding of OCD by some mental health professionals, including how to effectively treat it. We’ll work together using a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), called Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), which research has shown to be the most effective way to free people from their intrusive thoughts & compulsions.

I don’t know if I’ll make the time & space to do it.

It’s true that this will require time & money, and there are no guarantees. But…the chances are very good that you’ll be able to significantly change your life and have a much brighter future. Is that worth the investment?

How do I know I have what it takes to make the necessary changes?

If you want it, you can do it! I’m here to be your guide, to share my knowledge & expertise about this condition and, maybe most importantly, I am here to support you – I’ve got you!

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance. This could be an advantage for you for many reasons:

–You do not need to reveal or justify your reasons for seeking services

–I do not need to submit a diagnosis code to your insurance company

–Records of diagnoses and treatment are not made available to employers or others that have or request access to your insurance information

–You are able to select the service provider of your choice, rather than choosing from a provider list

–Insurance can dictate the frequency of sessions, type of therapy used, and how many sessions you can have – I believe these decisions should be           made by you and me

–Some insurance plans have high deductibles – which may make you decide to forego insurance if you would have to pay the same amount out-of-          pocket toward your deductible

What if I can’t afford your rate?

Don’t let my rate discourage you from contacting me! I’ve found that more often than not I’m able to come up with an acceptable arrangement with most people.

Even when this isn’t the case, I’ve been able to refer folks to therapists who may be able to accommodate your financial situation.

Who do you work with?

I specialize in working with adults with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and/or Anxiety. I also work with family & friends to educate, support and enlist their aid in the treatment of their loved one.

How does teletherapy (online therapy) work?

Teletherapy is basically the same as regular therapy, except it happens online instead of in an office. Sessions are typically an hour long, and may take place weekly, or whatever frequency you and I decide. All that is needed is: a quiet, private area; computer or mobile device with Internet access; and earbuds or headphones.

What is your cancellation/no show policy?

If an appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, you will be billed the full cost of the scheduled session.

The fee for missed therapy appointments is the full cost of the scheduled session, UNLESS it is due to an emergency situation. Emergencies include serious illness or injury, a death in the family, etc. Emergency cancellations of less than 24 hours will not incur a cancellation fee. When such emergencies happen, please communicate the situation to me ASAP.

What forms need to be filled out?

New client forms need to be completed before beginning therapy. I send an email containing this paperwork prior to the first appointment and all of it can be done online, utilizing the client portal.
